Today let me talk about how my days went for several months. There was a very big change in my life. I was transferred to a new office this past April.
In order to prepare for the new movement, I was dead busy since this past February. I had to work so hard in order to finish all my tasks until the end of March before I was transferred to my new workingplace. I fixed everything neat and in order for a person who was going to substite me. I worked all day even on Sundays and Saturdays. I finally got duodenal ulcer and had a stomach ache at the end of March. Obviously It was from the overworks and too much stress concerning the next coming movement. I didn't have enough time even for talking with children at home.
Finally this April I moved to my new office. To my disappointment, my new office was quite different from one I hoped. First, it was far from my home, and it is in the margin of the city. It was quite a countryside. I have to drive far longer than before every day.
Second, it was a very small office. The numbers of the workers there was few, and each worker has to cover a wide range of fields of works. That means that we ARE extremely busy here in the new office again! Actually my previous office regularly assigned its workers too many tasks and we had to overwork every day, and I really wanted to move to some relaxing office that would never assign me too many tasks for the working time. My hope was not fulfilled at all. Can you imagine how shocked I was to know about my new office?
However, four months passed after I was transfered to my new office with a great disappointment. Now I am getting used to my new environment including my new colleagues, customers, how to deal with things, and the policy on business. After a lot of struggles to adjust myself to my new enviornment, I can say I am kind of settled in my new office though I'm not quite happy with it.
I have to confess that I didn't make enough time for learning English during these months. But anyway here I am! I'm back here again in expressing myself in English! In fact , I didn't write any essays or blogs in English these days.
Writing blogs in English was one of my New Year Resolutions, and I am quite away from this doal now. I'm going to write something here again as long as I'm not stuck with my job.

I would like to express my resolutions for 2007 here. First of all, I want to complete all my tasks swiftly and complete my job responsibly. I am usually required to finish too many tasks within the working time, and overwork at home even after I leave my office. As long as this situation around me doesn't change, all I can do is to finish it as neatly and quickly as possibly. My second resolution is to spend more time and effort on my children. Last year I spend most of my time at the home for finishing my left-over work from my office. This fact also meant I did not have enough time to rear my children or to help them with their education. Moreover, I often did not have time to prepare meals for my family. This year I am going to work hard and spare time for my two children. Thirdly, I'd like to improve my English proficiency. My concrete goal is to attain 600 on the TOEFL test this year. In order to attain this goal, I have six plans: 1, To make use of The Linguist, an online English school, and give myself enough opportunities to listen, read, speak, and write English on a daily basis. 2, To read at least two articles from various fields every day and listen to English for two hours a day. 3, To read at least one challenging article from TIME or Newsweek every week. 4, To review words and phrases I saw in Reading or Listening more often than last year. 5, To try the questions from the past TOEFL test and make myself used to its style. 6, To write my blog in English on VOX. Though these learning activities, I am going to brush up my English. As a summary, this year I will dedicate my best efforts in all of these three fields: my job, child-rearing, and brushing up my English. All of them are very important for me. People sometimes try to economize their efforts when they are extremely busy. However, as the saying goes, the longest way about is the nearest way home. Though I need to be efficient, I feel I must not waste my efforts on them and I am going to do my best to better our future in 2007. |

Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I'm a learner of English, and I've been a member of the Linguist for more than 1 year. Actually I recieved an invitation from Steve last August, and it's been almost 5 months since that.
First of all, let me tell you about why I started this English blog. One day I had a chance to talk in English with some people from other countries. When the topic changed to blogs, one of them asked me why Japanese learners of English don't write their blogs in English. "Most of them write them only in Japanese, " he said. His words stuck me and one important idea flashed like a light bulb: "We should use English as much as we can as a means of communication, and a blog can be a very good means of communication."
Usually, Japanese people communicate only through Japanese. We never use English in our daily lives. We Japanese don't have to talk, read, listen, or even write in English because all of our daily affaires are done in Japanese. We don not even use English when exchanging comments on our blogs. However, if I could write a blog in English, more people would read my diary from all over the world. Also, some of them will give me comments on my blog, and I'll get more chances to communicate with those people. I thought I should not skip writing my blog in English.
This is how I decided to start my new English blog. Hopefully, keeping a diary in English will motivate me into learning English harder. First of all, writing in English kwill improve my writing skills as a consequence. The second reason for this is that I'll get more chances to communicate with more people. The readers of this blog will be people who speak English or people who are learning English. I'll excahnge a variety of opinions with those people.
Lastly and most importantly, I'm going to share my record of English learning. This sharing is going to be a great motivation for me to continue my learning. I really look forward to getting to know and communicating with more people through my English blog. I don't want to make this blog just for my learning English. It's for communicating and talking with many people.
Hello, dear my new fellows! Great to talk to you all! I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
